“Making friends and uniting communities one convention at a time.”
Good day gamers,
Ginger and I attended DexLite 2023 in Morristown, NJ in July. Here is my After Action Report (AAR) in no particular order of events:
- – It was the first Double Exposure event we went to where we got a hotel room. It wasn’t cheap, but we had a place to relax, dump our games, eat, shower, and get real sleep. It was worth it.
- – I ran four games to get a free badge, but Ginger decided against it, so she would be free to play in games.
- – My four games all fired, I taught lots of people games, even got a chance to play in other games, met new people, chatted it up, had an awesome grilled cheese, had unbelievable spicy tuna nachos, and more!
- – It was great to meet Carl, Simon, Sarah, Yun Li, and many more.
- – It was great to see again Linda, Sarah, Will, Avie, Bruce, and many more.
- – Baldman Games was there, though I didn’t say ‘Hello’. See my post about running games for them at PaxEast.
- – I met some awesome game developers
- – Our friend Will was there advertising www.thegamemap.com
Pros:
- It was great to see the convention coming back out of the pandemic
- I absolutely loved teaching games to so many new people checking out the difficult games I posted
- Having the hotel was awesome
Thing to improve:
- Ginger had some tough players at some RPGs. These players lowered the amount of fun and enjoyment of the game.
- It was hard for most people to get used to using Tabletop.Events. This sill improve over time.
- A paper map or more digital maps of where things were. The hotel had been renovated and some of the event locations had changed.
I give DexLite 2023 ‘8 Spice Blow, 8 Tickets for Placing an Animal, 8 Damage to Left Arm, 8 VPs for Control, and 8 Votes for the Proposal’.
Thank you to the entire DexLite 2023 crew!
Come join Ginger and I when we attend next time!
See you soon!
– Game Master Dave
