Good day gamers,
I hope all is well. Several of my friends have had a tough time during this pandemic and I’m glad that we, as a gaming community, have been able to help them out a bit. As a Shop Steward at work, I get fielded several questions a day about new procedures, policies and what the future may hold. I’m glad I’m able to help calm some nerves and make a difference. And for those stuck at home, working or not, raising kids or not, thank you for doing your part too. Waiting patiently for this to pass is also a patriotic thing to do. We love you and miss you all. We will game in person soon again!
Bethpage Library: Please watch for future events that we will be doing with the Bethpage Library. This past Friday night, Game Master Ginger and I hosted a Welcome To Your Perfect Home event on the library’s zoom account. We only had a few people show up, but it was a success for those that knew how to play the game. We were trying to teach it to a few other people, but I think it was just a hard concept to grab through the internet. However, we are now inspired that if we can build up a bunch of people that want to play this game online with us, it could be a HUGE success! This game is perfectly suited to play in separate locations. One person streams the cards and everyone can download the play sheet from the manufacturer’s website. We are looking forward to doing this again. If you want to be notified via email, please send me a note at dave@gamemastergames.com.
Thread Raiders: Thread Raiders is a collection of internet gaming streamers that have banded together to run events every three months or so. They helped us a lot with the Long Island Virtual Tabletop Expo a few weekends ago. They have a Discord and Twitch Channel. This weekend they are streaming games. I’m looking forward to the D&D Gameshow tonight, Sunday the 3rd, 8:30pm. The past streams and even today’s events, if you miss them, can be viewed on their Twitch channel for 14 days. Check out the videos, watch one and help support them. Their next event will probably be a fundraiser for a great cause. Find them here: TR Twitch. And here: TR Website.
Postal Record: I just got interviewed about my board gaming hobby by The Postal Record. This is a periodical mailing to all letter carriers across the country. I’ve sent them a whole bunch of information about my history with games, events Ginger and I run, local conventions, pictures, local stores, etc… I don’t know what will appear in the article, but this could get interesting. I think they have a circulation of about 200,000 and this website will most likely be listed in the article. Hopefully, we can spread the great word about gaming and increase the community nationwide. I’m very excited about this. Link to the online site: Postal Record
SGN: If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Some Good News by John Krasinski. It’s an uplifting, fun way to celebrate that there is still love and incredible people out there in this crazy world. Click on the link above to watch episode 2. I chose this one, because my family really enjoys a particular Broadway show. Below is a photo of my family learning some of the sheet music from this musical.
Misfit Market: Ginger and I have signed up for Misfits Market and Purple Carrot to get some food deliveries to limit our visits to the supermarket. They aren’t cheaper than buying the ingredients separately, but they get delivered, there are recipes for the Purple Carrot and we are experimenting with and tasting foods and meals that are new and interesting. Plus, we cook most of the Purple Carrot dinners together. We like them a lot and recommend you trying them at some point.
Thanks once again for making it to the end of another Dave’s Semi-Daily Dispatch. Give yourself 100 XP and until we meet again across the internet, keep your mice dry, your keyboards ready and your gaming communities strong!
