“Making friends and uniting communities one library convention at a time.”

We have several great Role-Playing Games at OctaCon this year!

Death Test, by our own famous local Long Islander graphic artist David Miller, presenting a neat piece of RPG history. Running multiple iterations both Saturday and Sunday.

  • From Steve Jackson Games this is a tactical combat RPG/board game/miniatures game called “The Fantasy Trip”. I’ll be teaching and running multiple teams of 4 players through a programmed adventure called the “Death Test.” This is a well known, extremely tough dungeon crawl that most players have a hard time getting through. But seeing how far you can get, or even if you can get all the way through, is half the challenge! Hey, it isn’t called the “Death Test” for nothing! Great game from the early days of gaming. (18+ only please)

On the other side of the spectrum, we have Liz with her debut RPG for 6-10 year olds! (Parent watching encouraged.) 12pm Saturday and Sunday.

  • King Barks-a-lot summons you, a group of rag-tag dog and cat adventurers, to help him find his most priceless golden chew toy after it has gone missing. We need your help to locate the most precious prize. Are you up for a pur-fect adventure filled with laughs and imagination? Your Dog-Master Liz is awaiting you!

One of our local game designers Will Little has recently designed an original RPG called Glorious Fate and it will be demoed by our local great Game Master Bill Herbst on Saturday at 10:30am.

  • Players are smugglers in 1920’s prohibition era America. They are the crew of a small boat that is trying to bring its illicit cargo to port while dealing with threats both natural and supernatural.

Bill Herbst will also be running Fiasco RPG: Camp Death at 2pm on Saturday.

  • Fiasco allows players to tell a story where things will most often go very, very wrong. This scenario evokes the feeling of classic horror movies set at summer camp.

Bill Herbst is also running at 11:30am on Sunday, Daggerheart RPG: The Witherwild. Don’t miss out on one of Bill’s great games!!!

  • Discover the mysterious cause of the blight that has settled on a once prosperous kingdom in this new RPG from the creators of Critical Role.

Last, but not least, is an oldie, but a goodie, Traveller RPG by our local, experienced, Board Game and RPG Game Master, Roger Cooper on Sunday at 1pm.

  • On a backwater planet, a starship crew confronts an alien menace, with the fate of a world in the balance.
