“Making friends and uniting communities one power center at a time.”
Good day gamers,
So, I just saw a video on ‘The Longest Boardgame of All Time’, which reminded me of an email Diplomacy game I played in about 1999 that took a year and a half to play.
I was Turkey and I was allied with Russia for the longest time and we were plowing across Europe.
At some point, I talked the Russian player into letting me pass through his rear areas in order to support him in some operations in Northern Europe and I just happened (much sarcasm) to stay in several of his supply centers at the end of Fall turn.
After my almost complete ‘back-stab’, he quit the game, stated he never wanted to see me again at any future gaming events, and the game ended.
Oh well…I might have won eventually, if the game didn’t end.
That is Diplomacy in a nutshell. Only play if you aren’t afraid to lose friends.
So, check out this video. If you are a Diplomacy player, it’s worth it to watch the whole thing.
See you soon!
