Good day gamer,

Amazing that a week went by since my last post. Time flies. I’ve been busy at the post office with a lot of packages and a lot of union work. Ginger has been busy working on library events for Game Master Games. We have also been moving stuff around the house to see if we can better utilize our rooms for when we can have company come over again.

Syosset Library: This past Wednesday night, Ginger and I had an event with the Syosset Library. We ran a ‘RPG 101’ event where Ginger gave a ten minute speech about what is a Role-Playing Game and then we ran a sample game of Honey Heist. We had several librarians in the Zoom room and three young patrons. It was a great time. You can find Honey Heist here. Syosset Library Link here.

Uplink: As a reminder, there will be a virtual video game convention on August 8 and 9. There will be a tabletop element as well. We are working hard on operational things and content. There will be a small charge, but the content alone will be worth the entry fee. 17 hours of you to choice panels, games, videos and more. Link is here.

NY Facemask PSA: Ginger watches or listens to Governor Cuomo’s Coronavirus report every day. I catch it when I can. Today, he mentioned that there is a contest for the latest New York Facemask Public Service Announcement. Check out the links here. They are really good. You can vote too.

GTKD: In this latest installment of Get To Know Dave, I wanted to talk about gaming conventions. For the last twelve years, I have been associated with, visited, helped run or ran more than 40 gaming conventions. It has been a big part of my life with the amount of time I’ve allocated and has led to a lot of enjoyment. I have made several good friends and have learned a lot. What is interesting is I ran my first gaming convention in 8th Grade. Yes, that is correct. I had a schedule of games I made and I invited about 20 of my friends and about ten showed up for a full day of games at my house. Some of my friends I enlisted as game masters and there were multiple games running at the same time. One of my friends ran Axis & Allies at our dining room table, while I taught Squad Leader downstairs. Later on someone was running D&D while I taught Columbia Games’ Napoleon. We ended with a big Diplomacy game. It was too much fun. What was your first gaming convention experience? Let me know at dave@gamemastergames.com.
