“Making friends and uniting communities one treasonous event at a time.”

Good day gamers,

  • Got some fencing and bricks for a yard project.
  • Had a three day weekend, it’s almost over, and though I completed a 100 different things, I feel like I did nothing. I’m sure you have all felt the same way sometimes.
  • I like peanut butter filled pretzels. You?
  • I like to watch this streamer playing Dwarf Fortress and other games. Check him out. BlindIRL
  • Yankees are starting out horribly. They are in last place. Mets are in first place. What has this world come to?

Two wins for me in one night? Impossible. Wow…last night was great! I’ve been playing a few games with my friend Anthony on VassalEnging.Org. The first game was Guelphs and Ghibellines, a game simulating tactical combat in the 13th Century and the next was Ardennes ’44. The first game, G&G, Anthony and I played just two LIVE sessions and it finished in the most historical, but crazy fashion. When certain conditions are met during the game, the game pauses and some dice are rolled and there might be a treasonous event which dramatically changes the game. Well, this event happened in the game last night and though it originally looked like Anthony was going to win, within 20 minutes I crushed him. However, it was only because of some of his troops committing treason. We now see, that if we both knew how that mechanic worked from the beginning of the game, we both would have played quite differently. Still a good time, at least for me. 🙂 Ardennes ’44 we had been playing for about three months with some LIVE session and also sending 120+ files back and forth to each other using Vassal and Dropbox. It was a hard fight, but as the Americans, I just kept giving up ground and Anthony, as the Germans, just could not get enough victory point locations within the time limit. He conceded. And that is how I won two games in one night! This won’t happen often, so I’ll revel in it for now. If you have any questions about Vassal or the above games, please send me a note at Dave@GameMasterGames.com.

Thank you so much for reading another Game Master Dave’s Semi-Daily Dispatch. Give yourself 100XP and until we meet again across the internet, keep your foxholes dry, your treasonous plots ready and your winning strategies strong!

NOTE: If someone has an idea on what to do with the XP I give out…I’m all ears…well…um….I have two ears.

Foxy Joan, “David dear, I see you have purchased some plants for putting in the garden. For us carnivores, this is not helpful. Please proceed back to the victual warehouse and procure some animal protein. Thank you.”

Lamby Pie, “Dude, I’m a Yank fan like you are, but Robert likes the Messy Mets. We just avoid the subject. It’s just a matter of time man, that your bud Bill and you come to knocker-heads with him being a Metty fan and all. Just fair warning.”

Snuggle Bunny, “It wasn’t me.”

Chester, “Chester.”

  1. LOL, so noted Lamby.

    1. 1) Cash in xp to play a game against Game Master Dave online? That might become impossible if you get too popular though. 2) People have emotes and such on their Twitter channel. Maybe give out those? How could you keep track?
