“Making friends and uniting communities meeting new people at one FLGS at a time.”

Good day gamers,

It is with sadness that I announce, if you haven’t heard already, that one of our local Friendly Local Game Stores is closing. This is Legendary Realms in Lindenhurst.

Here are some things you may or may not know:

  • They took over the space of Ravensblood Games in Plainview years ago.
  • At some point later they moved to Lindenhurst.
  • In Plainview they had a good RPG following as they had two rooms in the back of the store that were private and perfect for a group to rent and play within.
  • They have been known for a long time for their RPG terrain business and they have had a booth at GenCon for who knows how many years.
  • They somehow survived the pandemic.
  • They were one of the stores we used for FATDOG the past two years.
  • I’ve run several events at their Lindenhurst store.
  • Within the last couple years they have been associated with Long Island Tabletop Gaming Expo as the owners and partners also worked on that big convention at the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
  • Game Master Games has always had a good relationship with Legendary Realms and they will be missed.

I have a lot of sympathy for the team at Legendary Realms. I had to make the tough decision in 2017 to close my store, Game Master Games for a myriad of reasons.

I’m sure this decision was not easy, but since I closed my store, I am generally happier, have more time for gaming, more time for my friends, more time for projects, and more time with my wife. I wish the same to the entire Legendary Realms team.

Here is the note from Courtney, one of the owners of Legendary Realms:

Hi Everyone,

Courtney here. This post comes today bearing some bad, but also good news. On January 14th, 2024, Legendary Realms Games will close its doors one last time.

I have been in the game store business for a decade, and it is now time for me to move this horse and pony show to its next stop. Everyone involved in LR, over the years, has met some wonderful people, forged relationships, and created memories that will surely last us for the rest of our lives. With this decision, we are now able to move on to our next great adventure, whatever that may be.

So, to all the friends we have made over the years: thank you and we love you forever. To my other game-store-owner mentors: thank you for your endless support and guidance; I hope to never know gaming without you. And to all the gamers: you are the only reason we ever did this in the first place.

Until our final day, we will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Much love to everyone.

Best of luck to the entire LR crew and to it’s great customer base. I hope everyone find peace, lots of gaming, a new home, new friends, and experiences.

It was great working with Legendary Realms on projects and it was wonderful to meet everyone there that I met.

Long Live Legendary Realms!

See you soon!

  • Game Master Dave
