“Making friends and uniting communities one Wagon Trip to collect Cheese at a time.”

Good day gamers,

I got a chance to play some Orleans at my friend’s house.

Here is my experience in no particular order:

  • It’s a worker placement game, but there is so much going on.
  • You have to move your meeple to get goods on the board and get them places to fill orders for victory points, you have to place workers to gain more workers that get effects, you have to retire workers to get effects, you have to build buildings to get effects, so it’s a bit crazy.
  • I can see that this game would be hard to teach.
  • I can also see that this is not for new board game players.
  • It was very interesting to figure out a plan, but then about half the time it was spoiled by someone else.
  • I got the correct goods, I travelled far to fill an order, and then my friend Chris and I got to the correct city in the same round, but because he went before me, he got the victory point card. Frustating fun.
  • There are so many points to score all over the place, that in my opinion, there are several different ways to win, but you have to watch everything…because, there are only a limited number of workers and options.
  • I had just figured out the Monk strategy and then there were no more monks to buy. Argh…
  • I fell behind in the scholar strategy and then there were no more scholars to buy.
  • I didn’t even both with the farmer strategy.
  • Very interesting game.
  • Thanks Rich and Chris for showing us.

I give it a Seven Citizens Drawn from the Bag. (I might give it an eight later on if we ever get a chance to get it to the table again.

If you have played Orleans or any other board game that you have a story to tell us about, please fill out this short questionnaire. My Story…. Board Game

See you soon!
